Murano Cenedese Scavo Style Glass

This is the first piece of "Scavo" Glass that we have been lucky enough to get our hands on. We have seen pictures of examples but failed to appreciate the unique quality the pieces possess.

The Scavo technique was introduced by Cenedese in the 1940s gives the piece the patina of an excavated piece of ancient glass. This is achieved by appling salts and oxidants onto the hot glass. This example is in the form of a  Swan. I understand these pieces were made in varous sizes. Some 30cms high ths is  smaller  at 18cms

This piece is listed for Sale in on our Murano Page
